Everybody loves the P90...
This is a guide to the different types of submachine guns that you have available in the PC game Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The purpose of this guide is to give you more info about the guns that what you may normally find within the game. They are listed in the order in which they become available as you gain levels.
This is the ‘starter gun’ in the submachine gun category, but it’s actually a very good one. It only has a magazine capacity of 30 rounds, and doesn’t shoot quite as fast as some of the others, but the amount of damage it puts out is very comparable to the other submachine guns. After going up in level and unlocking the other guns, you might find yourself still going back to this one.
This little gun is basically just a machine pistol, and mainly intended for use at close range. With its low magazine capacity of only 20 rounds, you need to be pretty accurate when firing this gun. It still does a decent amount of damage at close range, and I’ve noticed a few people online like to use it. Personally, I find the 20 round mag too much of a hindrance. It is unlocked pretty early in the game.
This gun and the Skorpion are both machine pistols, but what sets this one apart, other than having an extra 2 rounds in the magazine, is that it shoots extremely fast. It’s faster than the P90. It doesn’t deal out a whole lot of damage per bullet, but the damage adds up when you are able to shoot out many at once. Just like a real Uzi, this one has a nasty bit of recoil that makes it a little hard to control. You have to be really good at this game to master this weapon. It is unlocked at level 13.
This is not a very popular gun in that it has about the same firing capacity and speed as the MP5, but a higher recoil that makes it harder to manage. It has a somewhat better penetration that allows you to shoot through walls or other materials, but many players may not feel like the trade-off is worth it. At least it deals out a little more damage than the MP5.
This is one of the most popular guns in the game, and you’ll find many people using it to play online. The P90 doesn’t even become available until you reach level 40, so you have to spend a lot of time proving your worth before this becomes an option. What makes it so popular is that it holds a lot of bullets (50 total) and shoots very fast.
On the downside, the P90 is not all that powerful and part of the reason why it shoots so much and so fast is because it takes quite a few hits from this gun to drop an opponent. If you find yourself in a duel with someone using a more powerful weapon, chances are they will kill you while you’re still wildly spraying bullets in their direction. It’s also not that great for long range shooting, though it can pick somebody off if they are standing still.
